Wrekin Shell Group invest in state-of-the-art robotics

Part of The Wrekin Shell Group, Gresswell Valves was established in Birmingham in the early 1930’s and has had a consistent high-profile presence in the safety relief valve industry ever since, with a worldwide distributor base of its bronze and stainless-steel relief valves. Gresswell Valves can supply to various specifications to protect plant, equipment and personnel from potential lethal over pressure e.g. boiler systems, pumps, process, shipping, oil and gas industries and enclosed pressurised systems.

Since incorporating Empire Engineering in 2010 it has expanded its range of safety relief valve types, sizes and pressure ranges and is able to manufacture to bespoke requirements.

Gresswell Valves maintains approvals for both PED CAT IV and PESR CAT IV and can supply both CE marked and UKCA marked products.

Gresswell Valves parent company is Wrekin Shell Mouldings, also part of The Wrekin Shell Group, who supply them with all their critical pressure containing parts. Wrekin Shell Mouldings holds ISO 9001:2015 with both UK and EU accreditation bodies and specialises in manufacturing complex castings using the shell moulding and air set processes in various grades of copper alloy e.g. CC491K (LG2), CC492K (LG4) and CC333G (AB2), together with precision machining of the finished items.

After strong growth in its order book, the group has recently invested in three state-of-the-art robotic CNC machines as part of its continual improvement programme to help it achieve its efficiency targets for 2022 whilst maintaining quality and competitive pricing.
