Hot Spot IOGP JIP-33 Launch Supplier Questionnaire for S-730 Pressure Relief Valves

What is it?

IOGP JIP-33 has started work on the next revision of their S-730 Pressure Relief Valve Specification by preparing a Supplier Questionnaire for Pressure Relief Valves. They are requesting that any safety valve manufacturer with experience of supplying to S-730 completes an online questionnaire to give feedback on their experience of using the specification. The information will be used to improve the specification during the next revision cycle.

The questionnaire requires information covering sales, technical and quality areas and the link to access it is included in the attachment and repeated here Supplier Questionnaire IOGP S-730 [Maintenance] (office.com). IOGP are requesting that the information is completed by 25/08/23.

Why is it Important?

The current S-730 specification, covering flanged pressure-relief valves, takes the form of a set of requirements that are supplementary to API 526. The document covers basic definitions, design requirements, materials, inspection and testing, identification and preparation for shipment and pressure-temperature tables.

It is intended that the revised specification will be adopted as standard by IOGP members in all flanged pressure-relief valve procurement activities, affecting the future supply of thousands of valves to the upstream oil and gas industry. Therefore, it is important that BVAA members who are pressure -relief valve manufacturers make their voice heard to ensure that the specifications are effective at meeting the needs of the valve manufacturers as well as the end users.
