AMB Co. Ltd – 85 Years and Counting!

One of the UK’s leading suppliers of hardfaced components, AMB Co. Ltd, have been a member of the BVAA for a few years now, but their story began in the 1930s.  In fact, they celebrated their own 85-year milestone in 2023. 

The company has vast experience in producing pumps, valves, and associated components, providing largely to sectors such as oil and gas, power generation, marine, nuclear and defence.

The past 12 months have been another eventful, and highly successful year for the Sheffield-based engineering company.  Business Development Manager, Andrew Wellwood, summarises: 

“2023 was another busy year for us here at AMB Co. Ltd.  Not just from a customer-facing point of view, but we’ve also been busy within our own four walls.  We’ve had a recruitment drive, bought new machines, and invested in our existing people with targeted training courses. 

A fantastic example of this is the BVAA Future Leaders Programme, both Liam Dawson and Reece Clarke completed the course in December as part of Cohort 6, with Reece scooping up the ‘Highest Award for Achievement’, and they are now Foundation Chartered Managers.  They’ve been on such a rewarding journey, and it’s been a fantastic part of their personal development, and we’re all incredibly proud of them.  They are part of the future of AMB, and we have plans for them moving forward, which will see them implement some of their ideas within the business. Exciting times! 

We ended our 85^th year in business with a record orderbook, expanding our reach into North and South America, and started gaining traction with a few long-term projects that we’ve been working on.  All this feeds into the bigger picture and our mid to long term ambitions, with plans for another recruitment drive in the summer, new machines, further investment in our people and capabilities, and an increase in business development activities. 

We’ve been in business for 85 years and we see our partnership with the BVAA as a key ingredient in our plans to ensure that we’re still driving the company forward in another 85 years.”
