Kinetrol launches new manual fail-safe units for larger valves
Kinetrol are proud to launch the D-Line, a range of damped manual fail-safe units that allow controlled, manual operation of larger rotary valves while ensuring they cannot be left in the incorrect position.
Addressing a safety-critical gap in the market and expanding our safe-line range, these damped manual fail-safe units are in line with numerous process valve, machinery and safety directives, including:
- API 6D (inc supplement S-562)
- BS EN 13942
- ISO 12100
- ISO 14118
By combining Kinetrol’s tried and tested clock springs with an integral rotary damper, operators can safely open quarter-turn valves with the assurance that the valve cannot mistakenly be left in an undesired open or closed state. The spring provides the reliable torque delivery to re-seat the valve while the damper dissipates energy, preventing the operating handle from causing harm.
This new development expands the Kinetrol range of manual fail-safes from 45 Nm (400 lbf ins) to a new max torque of 143Nm (1270 lbf ins). As standard, the damper will reduce the operating handle energy to 10J or less, with further reductions possible if required.
Additionally, all D-Line units come ATEX approved as standard, an IP65 rating that ensures protection of the internal components from water ingress and a lockable handle to prevent unauthorised use.
