One of the UK’s leading suppliers of hardfaced components, AMB Co. Ltd, have been accepted on to a BSI pilot scheme for their Nuclear standard BS EN ISO 19443.
Upon completion of the scheme, the Sheffield-based engineering company will be one of a handful of companies to gain the new accreditation.
Business Development Director, Andrew Wellwood explains: “As part of continued involvement in the nuclear sector, we have been looking into gaining some relevant accreditation for quite some time, and after exploring a number of options, I’m delighted to announce that we have been accepted on to the BSI pilot scheme for BS EN ISO 19443.
We have an excellent relationship with BSI, stretching back many, many years, and not only is it an honour to be a part of the scheme, it’s also a perfect fit for us as a business, and will see AMB Co Ltd become one of the very first companies to gain the accreditation.
This really is an exciting time for everyone involved in the business; it feeds into our continuous improvement journey and is another step forward with our strategic growth plan into critical areas such as Nuclear and Defence.”

BVAA Golf Day 2022 – Winning Team: Tim Bingham (Emerson Automation Solutions), Andrew Wellwood (AMB), Colin Burns (Emerson Automation Solutions)
“With the world cautiously emerging from the pandemic, I was eager to not only make the most of our position in the market but really tap into the potential we have here. That’s where the BVAA come in, and one of the first things I did was make AMB a member. It’s a fantastic organisation with brilliant people, and it has a real ‘family feel’ about it, which certainly resonates with AMB Co. Ltd. We’ve used them for training courses, I usually make an appearance at all the BVAA events, and we even put two of our younger employees through the Future Leaders Programme, so I see the BVAA team more as a partner on our journey.” Sir Geoff Hurst MBE and Andrew Wellwood at the 2023 BVAA Spring Conference
“It's been hard work (and a lot of air miles!), but a thoroughly enjoyable first four years. I’m obviously proud of my achievements so far, but I’ve only just scratched the surface and I’m just as excited for what we can achieve moving forward.”
“Our people, the sheer quality of the work they produce, together with their hunger and desire to improve, are the staple ingredients required for what I see as a successful AMB Co. Ltd in the coming years.”
“Crucially, this long-term vision is shared by our board. I’ll be forever grateful to our Managing Directors Frazer Crownshaw and Jack Austin, Elizabeth Austin and the rest of the board for not only the opportunity, but for their continued support on our journey.”
