For many years, the BVAA has been proud to support members in raising funds and awareness for charitable causes. Through our ‘BVAA Hatters’ initiative, our members often undertake fantastic physical challenges in raising funds for their chosen charities - these can be very local or indeed international charities.
We freely provide our BVAA hats to members, and in return, they share their photos with us, we make a donation, and help promote these fundraising efforts to the wider membership, and our Valveuser readership.
This year, we have been delighted to support the following fundraising initiatives…
20-Mile Charity Hike Raises Funds for Coeliac UK
The 29th of June saw a determined trio take on a challenging 20-mile hike from Stroud to Dunkertons, all in aid of raising funds for Coeliac UK.
The walk took place under a blazing sun, making the distance feel even longer, especially during the final mile, which was completed in silence as fatigue set in. The hike was completed by Keith Woolnough (WIKA Instruments Ltd), Richard Salter, and Ben Blinman, with spirits kept high by the promise of Dunkertons at the finish line.
Despite the heat and exhaustion, the team pushed through and exceeded their fundraising target of £500, with a few more donations still expected to come in. All proceeds will go to Coeliac UK, supporting those affected by coeliac disease and helping to fund vital research and awareness.
Bray Controls (UK) raise over £2,000 on the West Highland Way Cycle Challenge for Marie Curie
Congratulations to Raymond Scott, Neil Gaston, Robert Marshall, Lewis Gilmour, David MacArthur & Niall Thompson from Bray, who successfully completed the West Highland Way Cycle Challenge on 31st May - a 104-mile ride from Fort William to their headquarters in Inchinnan.
The team raised vital funds for Marie Curie, an incredible charity providing care and support for those with terminal illnesses.
