So far this year, the world has seen volatility and uncertainty. Stability matters more than ever, and the most resilient companies are a beacon of hope.

The Directors at Howco have spent more than 40 years building a strong, dependable business. Founded in Scotland in 1982 and part of the Sumitomo Corporation since 2006, Howco has an excellent reputation with global strength and credibility.

As one of the world’s leading distributors of high-performance alloys and supplier of highly-engineered components and printed parts, Howco combines material supply with unparalleled processing and manufacturing capabilities, including: Machining, Heat Treatment, Testing, Additive Manufacturing and Electromechanical Assembly Services. Their in-house engineering expertise, immense material knowledge and accreditations help meet the most demanding standards required by customers across a variety of industries.

The global footprint of Howco is impressive too – operating in four major regions with the ability to process materials at every location. Their worldwide reach is matched not only by extensive stock levels, but also the organisation’s ability to transfer product seamlessly around the world.

During an interview at the Howco Sheffield site, Derek Main, Senior Vice President - Business Development commented: “I’ve spent almost 30 years at Howco and seen many changes in our industry over those years. I’m continually impressed by our resilience and adaptability to always stay relevant. The words ‘World Class, Worldwide’ are real words, not just a catchphrase.”

There is currently a significant expansion at the Howco facility in the UAE and continual investment is made in modern technology. The latest new machines have been installed at Bredbury in the UK and Singapore this year - with more to follow in Irvine in Scotland in the Autumn. Other progressions include the expansion of the Additive Manufacturing division and the integration of a business acquisition in Warrington – now part of Howco Scientific.

It's positive to see that the distribution team are also making strategic advancements. They continue to explore new materials for new markets. “The coming months will see further expansion of our core grades so that we can support customers with what they need - when they need it.” comments Jane Savage, European Commercial Director - Distribution.

When asked “What are your thoughts for the future of the Howco Group?” The response from the Directors is clear. Howco is here for the long haul – robust, reliable and ready!
