RTK Feedwater Control Valves with Spillback

RTK are a German control valve specialist and a subsidiary of CIRCOR International, a group renowned as a global manufacturer of highly engineered control valves.

Their feedwater control valve with spillback, model MV5291 / MV5391, is a specialised valve designed to manage flow and pressure whilst also protecting pumps, boilers and economisers.

Operated by an RTK electric actuator the main control valve regulates downstream flow to the boiler, while the integrated spillback valve recirculates excess flow back to the economiser or boiler feedwater tank. The spillback port has and adjustable flow-rate and a hardened trim to deal with the high differential pressure.

By linking with the pump VSD, the pump can be slowed to its minimum required speed when the spillback line is open, significantly reducing power consumption hence making it more energy efficient.

Applications: 

• Boiler feedwater systems. Boiler steam ratings: 5 - 50 t/h

Purpose: 

• Provide a minimum flow through the feedwater pump and prevent cavitation.
• Provide a constant minimum flow through an economiser.

• Prevents cavitation, overheating, and damage to pumps from running below minimun levels.
• Prevents economisers boiling dry.
• Reduced energy usage.
• Modular design: all parts can be replaced.
