Playing Your Part: Why Now Is the Time to Get Involved

Published: 18th June 2026 | Issue 105 Share article:

The British valve industry has always been strongest when it works together.  Our reputation for engineering excellence, reliability and innovation has been built over decades by companies choosing collaboration over isolation, and long‑term thinking over short‑term gain.  Supporting the industry is not something that happens by default; it happens because businesses actively choose to engage.

Every company operating in our sector benefits from having a strong, credible industry body working on its behalf.  Whether you are a manufacturer, distributor, service provider or supplier, the challenges you face – skills, regulation, market change, customer expectations – are shared.  Addressing them effectively requires more than individual effort.  It requires a collective voice, shared expertise and a platform that brings the industry together.  That is exactly what the BVAA exists to provide.

For existing members, continued involvement sustains the training, technical support, representation and networking that underpin our market.  For non‑members and those who have stepped away in the past, joining (or re‑joining) is a straightforward way to reconnect with an industry that is moving, adapting to major challenges and facing real change.  BVAA membership is not about obligation or compliance; it is about participation and influence.

Many companies already engage informally with BVAA activity – attending events, reading Valveuser, benefiting from the technical standards and guidance we develop, or indeed our powerful lobbying.  Membership simply formalises that relationship and ensures your business has a voice in shaping priorities, services and direction.

It also ensures you are infinitely more visible within your own industry, connected to customers and peers, and part of conversations that matter.

Importantly, BVAA is a not‑for‑profit, member‑led organisation.  Everything we do is driven by the needs of our members and the health of the wider British valve industry.  We do not exist to sell products or promote one brand over another; we exist to support the sector as a whole.  That only works when companies choose to be involved.

If you are operating in this industry, you are already part of it.  Membership is simply the most effective way to contribute, to benefit, to protect your own interests, and to help ensure that the British valve industry remains strong, influential and respected – now and in the years ahead.

If you want to support the industry that supports your business, the invitation is open.  Join in.

A clear invitation…  If you are not currently a BVAA member - or if your company has stepped away in the past - we would welcome the opportunity to talk.  There is no obligation and no hard sell, just an open conversation about how the Association can support your business and how you can play a part in supporting the wider British valve industry.  To start that conversation, contact me, Rob Bartlett, on 01295 221270 or email rob@bvaa.org.uk, or alternatively visit www.bvaa.org.uk.

The industry is stronger when more of us choose to get involved.  Stronger Together.
