Hot Spot New BVAA PED Guidelines

What is it?

The BVAA has now launched PED Guidelines on its website in a Q&A format similar to the EU PED Guidelines, with notes and reasons where needed, for a concise, focussed approach to key topics.

The EU PED Guidelines are also available on this site, with links where relevant.

This resource is for Members Only and access is through the Member Area of the BVAA website and requires a login.

When the PED was introduced, BVAA members produced the Green A5 booklet, Guidelines on the interpretation of The Pressure Equipment Directive, to help members understand it. Members now need more detailed guidance on specific topics which is what the site is intended to give.

The site is designed to be dynamic and to evolve with members’ needs.

Why is it important?

This is a source of information on the PED dedicated to valves and actuators, dedicated specifically for members’ products. The aim is to share practical experience and provide pragmatic assistance where possible. It is not legal advice, as stated in the disclaimer.

The site is password protected: it is created by BVAA members for BVAA members- please keep it this way and respect the confidentiality of this valuable information.

Continuous Improvement – Did we miss anything?

Ongoing updates, new questions, revised articles, best practice ideas and suggested templates are all planned. To help develop the site, we need your input:

  • Which articles could be improved, and how?
  • What new questions should be covered?
  • Which example documents would help?
  • Do you have useful experiences with Notified Bodies to share?

The site should stay active and responsive to members’ needs. Please email the BVAA office with your feedback: enquiry@bvaa.org.uk

Hot Spots are intended to alert members and provide a brief overview of new standards, activities or procedures that are being introduced in the industry. If there is key information missing that would be helpful, please let us know so that we can improve our future service.

Please Note: This Hotspot is for information purposes, and we invite comments from BVAA members only. Please also note that at time of publication ballots may be closed. For more information, please contact the Secretariat.

BVAA Members: Did you know we have a hotspot tab on the BVAA website? Head over to www.bvaa.org.uk/login-here.asp and log into the member only area. You then need to select ‘Hotspots’ for the latest. For information on how to access the member only area of the website please contact jane@bvaa.org.uk
