Tyne Pressure Testing Managing Director, Paul Smith, has retired after an incredible 50 years with the British Engines Group – marking both a significant milestone and the beginning of an exciting chapter under the leadership of new Managing Director, Paul Humprheys.

Tyne Pressure Testing (TPT) has established a global reputation as one of the UK's leading providers of pressure testing services. Using specialist facilities capable of replicating the extreme pressures, temperatures and conditions found in some of the world’s harshest environments, the business helps customers validate equipment performance before deployment – reducing technical risk, improving reliability and ensuring that critical assets perform safely in service.

Building on the strong foundations already in place, Paul is now focused on continuing to ensure TPT maintains its momentum and strengthens its performance, capability and reputation.

"TPT is known for delivering an excellent service to clients, consistently and to a very high standard, which really resonates with me.

"The company has built an excellent reputation over many years. My focus is on building on those strong foundations, staying close to our customers, continuing to deliver reliably, and investing in our people and capabilities."

Paul sees significant opportunities ahead for TPT, with continued investment across subsea, hydrogen, carbon capture and defence applications.

"As technologies evolve, the need to validate equipment under real operating conditions only becomes more important, and that's where TPT can add real value through specialist testing and qualification."

From hyperbaric and hydrostatic testing to environmental simulation and bespoke validation programmes, TPT works with customers throughout the product development cycle, helping qualify new equipment, validate designs and reduce technical risk before deployment into some of the world's most demanding operating environments.

Paul believes the company's success is built on the knowledge and commitment of its people and wants TPT to be recognised as a place where employees can develop their skills, feel valued and build rewarding careers.

"This is a business built on experience – you can't separate the quality of what we deliver from the people delivering it."

Alongside investing in people, Paul is clear in his ambition to position TPT as a trusted technical partner throughout the development and qualification of critical equipment.

"We want customers to see us as more than a testing provider. We aim to be a trusted technical partner that's easy to work with, makes full use of our capabilities, and stands behind everything we do."

Supporting Paul is a strengthened senior leadership team, with Operations Manager, Connor Alderson, and Business Development Manager, Craig Robinson, helping to drive operational excellence, customer collaboration and future growth.

"For me, success is steady, sustainable progress. It's about continuing to grow as the partner customers trust to validate critical equipment, reduce technical risk and help bring new technologies safely into service.”

With a clear vision and a continued commitment to technical excellence, Tyne Pressure Testing is well positioned to support customers as the energy and defence sectors continue to evolve, helping bring critical equipment into service with confidence.
