Subsea specialist Becon Precision joins Vision Engineering

Vision Engineering Ltd has acquired the business and assets of Becon Precision Engineering. Becon machines subsea connectors in exotic materials for valve and actuator OEMs across oil and gas. The acquisition adds a long-established subsea machining specialist to the group's precision subcontract division, alongside Milturn.

Becon was founded in 2001 and is based in Byfleet, Surrey. It has built its reputation on connector bodies, valve components and related hardware. These are held to tight tolerances, in exotic alloys built for deep-water service. Monel K500, Inconel, Super Duplex and Nitronic grades are routine work on their shop floor. These materials resist chloride pitting, crevice corrosion and sulphide stress cracking. They also work harden and punish tooling.

Vision Engineering has secured Becon's order book. Ten employees join the group, including former owner Richard Clark, and the company will run as a standalone unit for now, keeping continuity for existing customers. Its plant includes DMG Mori and Mori Seiki lathes, Hardinge Cobra lathes and Bridgeport machining centres. The move to Vision Engineering's site in Send, Surrey, will be complete by November 2026.

Becon joins Milturn Precision, Vision Engineering's established subcontract machining and finishing business. Together they give valve and actuator OEMs a single UK source for difficult material work. Both hold ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certification. In-house finishing, heat treatment, plating, electron beam welding, laser marking and assembly all happen on site. Parts arrive complete, not chased around a chain of suppliers.

Quality now runs across the group. Inspection uses Vision Engineering-built measurement systems: the Deltron CMM, Hawk Duo and TVM Series optical systems. Results are traceable to national standards. A Chartered Member of the Chartered Quality Institute leads quality group-wide. Multiple sites hold ISO 13485, ISO 17025 and ISO 9001 certification.

Vision Engineering has manufactured in Surrey since 1958 and remains wholly British owned. It is best known for patented ergonomic optical and digital inspection instruments. The group also offers contract manufacturing, design and commercialisation from UK and US facilities.
