Pressure Tech Celebrates 20th Anniversary with Strong Sales Performance

MD, Steve Yorke-Robinson, Reflects On Pressure Tech’s Journey So Far.

Pressure Tech, a world renowned manufacturer of high quality pressure regulators based in Derbyshire, UK, celebrated its 20th anniversary last month (October) with 10% year-on-year growth including record-breaking sales in the month of August. The milestone anniversary has provided the perfect opportunity for owner/manager, Steve Yorke-Robinson to reflect on the journey so far.

“The whole business concept was formed from an idea of manufacturing a range of pressure regulators at a time when buzz words such as ‘globalisation’ and ‘e-commerce’ were portrayed as the key to success. Even Google, which feels like it has been with us for a lifetime, was in its infancy and I had little idea how much impact it would have on our success at the time.

“From the early days we quickly realised that the employees within our company, our ability to react quickly to change and bring about diversification and product realisation were the crucial factors to our growth - that understanding has only deepened over time. Pressure Tech has moved location three times over its 20 years history. Its continual growth has funded regular investments in new machinery, tools and equipment. Today, Pressure Tech’s operation spans across two industrial units with 15,000ft2 workspace and staffing levels have doubled in the past five years.

“Take our flagship LF690 hydraulic pressure regulator for example. It was introduced to the market in 2009 with a ceramic seat concept that served as a unique selling point over competing products. Our sales revenue drastically increased after its introduction - but we didn’t stop there. After seeing an increasing demand for subsea control systems down to 3,000m (10,000ft) we adapted it for subsea use and added in remote operation functionality. We feel that this mindset of never stopping to look for new and innovative ways to customise and tweak even the smallest of details across our business has served us well”, said Yorke-Robinson.

With its new financial year starting this month (November), Pressure Tech is plotting its next phase of growth. As the drive towards ‘green energy’ intensifies with backing from numerous governments and businesses throughout the world, the hydrogen fuel cell market is one of the fastest growing and dynamic markets that Pressure Tech aim to capitalise on. The company has already developed a lightweight pressure regulator valve used successfully on UAV Drones, and has invested a further £50,000 on certifying products to EC79 and TPED, allowing them to be used on vehicles used on the road, or on transportable gas containers. With the recent addition of experienced Sales Manager, Mark Burrell, the future is looking very bright for this family run business.

“Thanks to our employees, customers, suppliers, and families for the support they have each provided throughout the past 20 years, and especially through the current pandemic situation. We are looking forward to seeing what we can achieve in the months and years ahead”, concluded Yorke-Robinson.
