CRM help to support the next generation into the workplace

Corrosion Resistant Materials Ltd, based in Swinton, South Yorkshire are proud to have been selected as a partner for Talent United. A Fantastic scheme run by Barnsley College where local businesses help support and shape the next generation.

The initiative helps young people bridge the gap between education and employment within the South Yorkshire area. It focuses on supporting learners and apprentices with employability skills, work placements, mentoring and though guest speaking at events, especially during these very difficult times for the younger generation just embarking on a career.

When asked why CRM decided to become a Talent United partner, Director Adam Bradley said: “It’s all about giving back to the local community and being able to pass our business knowledge to the next generation of employees. In the longer-term we are also considering offering industry placements to Barnsley College students to keep our workforce fresh and up-to-date in terms of skills and knowledge.”

In pursuit of the same aims, CRM recently recruited a Barnsley College apprentice into their accounts team, Jack Craven. Adam is also looking forward to supporting their Business and Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) students during their industry week in January 2021, when he will deliver a talk about his career and the recruitment expectations of CRM. This will give students an excellent insight into the skills and knowledge necessary to be successful when considering their future career.

Jess Widdowson, Enterprise Team Leader at Barnsley College, said: “It was a real pleasure to welcome CRM on board as a Talent United partner. Adam and the team have a clear passion and intention to support the next generation of the labour market and I really look forward to welcoming them into sessions with our students.”

Adam added: “I was really impressed by Jess in our initial meeting and I really look forward to working with her and her team to support students in any ways that we can.”
