BVAA Hot Spot EN ISO 22153 2021 Electric Actuators for Industrial Valves - General Requirements Published

What is it?

BS EN ISO 22153 2021 Electric actuators for industrial valves - General requirements (ISO 22153:2020) has been published and is available to purchase. This standard has been prepared by ISO TC/153 and adopted by CEN/TC69 as a European standard without further modification. This document provides basic requirements for electric valve actuators, used for on-off and control valves. It includes guidelines for classification, design, enclosure and corrosion protection, and methods for conformity assessment.

It covers combinations of electric actuators and gearboxes when supplied by the actuator manufacturer but excludes solenoid actuators, electro-hydraulic actuators and electric actuators which are integral to the valves.

Why is it Important?

ISO 22153:2020 has now been adopted as an EN standard without modification, resulting in the EN 15714-2:2009 has been withdrawn. This now means that electric actuators in on/off and control valve applications can be designed, type tested and selected to a single international standard, enabling consistent general requirements to be utilised allowing consistency across a wide range of global markets and applications.

Supersedes

This standard supersedes EN 15714-2:2009 and ISO 22153: 2020 which are withdrawn.

Continuous Improvement
