Drallim: The Rotary Selector Valve

The legendary Drallim “Rotary Selector Valve” (RSV) on which the company was founded in 1958 remains a product that continues to be in demand today, spearheading the contracts won through the Industrial Division including the recent manufacture of a complete suite of electro-pneumatic control panels for a nuclear power station application.

The plants project team were so pleased with the way Drallim managed the first phase of the project that they went on to give us the 2^nd phase of the project too; they were highly complementary about the quality of the product, our workmanship, and the professionalism of the staff throughout the process, one of their project managers went on to say that it would be great if everyone were as professional as Drallim, as it would make their jobs so much easier. High praise indeed!

The original project started back in 2012/13, when we were asked to do the first site surveys; the first batch of units had to be fully reverse engineered, manufactured, installed, and commissioned.

The final stages of this monumental task were not without its challenges, Drallim had a catastrophic fire in Feb 2019 which destroyed their factory and everything in it including the finished cabinets that were waiting to be delivered to the Nuclear Power Station. In no time at all the team were able to re-group, and pick themselves up and carry on, and in October 2020 they moved back into their newly built premises after 20 months away.

Then came the next challenge …COVID! And during the first lockdown of 2020 our intrepid installation engineers ploughed ahead unperturbed, staying in the almost abandoned Holiday Inns, working the day and eating alone in their rooms for two weeks at a time until finally the Installation and commissioning were completed in September 2020.

Drallim were contacted in the first instance because the valves used in the original units were made by Drallim. They had been in the plant reliably doing their thing for many years. Everything in the new cabinets made by Drallim, other than the solenoids and the electric switches were either Drallim or Koganei air preparation products. Drallim have been UK distributors for Koganei for over 30 Years.
