Parker introduces new low GWP refrigeration dryer series for effective removal of water vapour from compressed air

Parker Hannifin, the global leader in motion and control technologies, prioritises continuous innovation and attention to the environment. It is introducing two new refrigeration dryer series, PSE (Polestar Smart-E) and SPS (Starlette Plus-E), to bring its complete range of low-pressure refrigeration dryers up to date, using the new low GWP (global warming potential) refrigerant gas R513A.

Both series are designed for efficient removal of water vapour from compressed air in all industrial and general-purpose applications requiring a pressure dew point as low as 3°C.

With a GWP as low as 573 compared with the current refrigerants R134a (GWP 1430) and R407C (GWP 1774), the new ranges are fully equipped to meet the requirements of the European F-gas regulation EU 517/2014, in terms of GWP reduction and impact on the environment.

For the end user, investing in a solution that works with a low GWP refrigerant is not only an environmentally sound decision, but also guards against potential disruptions (associated with higher GWP gases), such as shortages, price increases and future bans.

The new SPS family, with dual-frequency models from 0.4 to 10 m³/min, retains all the features, versions (including the energy saving version from model SPS026) and benefits of the previous, successful SPE range (Starlette Plus-E), with the additional value of the new low GWP refrigerant R513A in place of R134a.

The new PSE family, with dual-frequency models from 12 to 180 m³/min, replaces and updates the globally renowned Polestar Smart (PST) range, with completely new models. In addition to the new low GWP refrigerant R513A in place of R407C, the new models benefit from low running costs, low refrigerant charges, new controller interfaces, greater connectivity capabilities and state-of-the-art components.

Energy-saving capabilities available as standard on all models, and variable speed fans on larger models (from PSE460), together with low-pressure-drop heat exchangers, reduce both the adsorbed power and the running costs.

Highly efficient micro-channel condensers minimise refrigerant charges on all units, with a reduction of about 40% compared with traditional condensing solutions.

A modern range of controllers, with touch screen versions available from 22 m3/min (PSE220) and enhanced communication capabilities, make the units easy to use, and the data easy to access.

Industry 4.0 Modbus protocol available on all units as standard, and IIoT capabilities from model PSE460, via MQTT protocol or optionally OPC UA, simplify remote supervision and connectivity for data management, maintenance, and servicing needs.
