BVAA: Hotspot - Publication of ISO 6002:2021 Bolted Bonnet Steel Gate Valves

What is it? 

ISO TC153 has prepared and published the second edition of ISO 6002:2021.

This standard specifies the requirements for bolted bonnet steel gate valves having the following

features:

— bolted bonnet

— outside screw and yoke

— inside screw (alternative for PN 10, PN 16, Class 150, PN 25 and PN 40 only)

— single or double obturator

— wedge or parallel seating

— with or without non-metallic obturator or seat seals

— flanged or butt-welding ends

It covers valves of nominal sizes DN:10 - 1000

with pressure designations: - PN 10; 16; 25; 40; 63;100; or Class 150; 300; 600

Why is it Important? 

The main changes in the second edition include the removal of PN20 and PN 50 pressure designations and the addition of PN63 and class pressure designations as well as NPS pipe size references.

Additional requirements for gate, stem and closure test have been added and figures and details of body wall thickness and envelope dimensions have been revised.

Testing, inspection and marking have also been revised.

Supersedes

ISO 6002:1992 is cancelled and replaced by ISO 6002:2021.
