Hot Spot - Requirements & testing for metallic valves as pressure accessories prEN16668:2022

What is it?

Draft European Standard Industrial valves - Requirements and testing for metallic valves as pressure accessories prEN16668:2022(E) if approved will supersede EN 16668:2016+A1:2018. Various clauses and subclauses have been modified, including Annex ZA.

The nature of the changes is to update the standard references to the current harmonized standards and minor editorial changes.

Please address any comments to the BVAA by 20 March 2022. These will be collated and forwarded to BSI (PSE/18/1).

Why is it Important?

EN16668 is a document that aims to be an umbrella standard referencing European harmonized standards for industrial metallic valves as pressure accessories for industrial applications. It covers the relevant minimum requirements to meet the Essential Safety Requirements of the Pressure Equipment Directive.

It provides useful guidance on the relevant harmonized standards as well as background information.

While much of the standard does cover Essential Safety Requirements, there are clauses that go beyond the Directive requirements and are not listed in Annex ZA.

Members are reminded that harmonized standards are useful as they have a presumption of conformity, however they are not mandatory.

Supersedes

EN 16668:2016+A1:2018.

Continuous Improvement
