Members for just over one year, our time working with the BVAA has been brilliant!

Our recent sponsorship of the BVAA Spring Conference & Golf Day meant we could contribute, and be more involved with the conference, as well as continue to raise our profile within the membership.

Joining the BVAA was definitely a positive thing for us to do, and over the course of our first year we’ve taken every opportunity to get involved.  We’ve attended various desktop exhibitions, featured regularly in the magazine, taken part in the Hydrogen TEG and developed some great working relationships with other members.

The Spring Conference itself was a great experience.  Kudos to Ben Gledhill and Aaron Freeman from Merinox, and Peter Burnett from Heap & Partners, for winning the Golf tournament. Our spring making abilities vastly outweigh our golf capabilities, which is why you didn’t see either Graham or John on the course!

Other notable moments from the day included presentations by Andrew Fraser and Nigel Cliffe. Andrew gave an enlightening discussion about sustainable travel and gave comforting advice about Graham’s own green footprint when running his elderly Land Rover on Veg Oil.

Nigel revealed some interesting facts and tactics about using LinkedIn, and it was flattering he recalled so much about a discussion he had with Graham during the morning. He acknowledged Graham’s passion for his career in springs, and also publicly viewed and discussed his LinkedIn profile with everyone.

We were particularly pleased to have the opportunity to catch up with Andrew Hambleton and Stuart Griffin from James Walker (fellow event sponsors) and share many stories about our time in the industry.

The evening dinner and presentations were fun, as well as interesting.  Hal Cruttenden had us in stitches with his very entertaining take on life.

Overall, it was a great two days.  The BVAA should be proud of putting on such a good event.  The value of spending time with industry peers, in a social setting, should not be underestimated. Not only does it make work enjoyable, but it sparks conversations that cement long term relationships, leads to ideas for innovation and generates smiles all round.
