Glenfield Invicta: Powering a Greener Future
Glenfield Invicta Achieves Achilles Carbon Reduce Certification
At Glenfield Invicta, sustainability is at the core of our operations. We are proud to announce that, following a rigorous two-stage audit, Achilles has confirmed our certification in the Carbon Reduce Scheme. This milestone demonstrates our commitment to environmental responsibility, carbon reduction, and continuous improvement, while also providing our customers with full transparency regarding our carbon footprint.
What is the Achilles Carbon Reduce Programme?
The Achilles Carbon Reduce Programme, certified to ISO 14064-1, helps organisations measure, manage, and reduce their carbon footprint. It provides independent verification of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and ensures compliance with the UK Government’s Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR) requirements. This certification validates our science-based approach to carbon reduction and commitment to sustainability.
The Audit Process
Achieving certification required a two-stage audit:
- On-Site Assessment – A full-day review at our Kilmarnock site examined how we measure and manage environmental impact, including sustainability initiatives and waste management.
- In-Depth Data Review – A detailed three-day audit verified our energy usage, travel emissions, freight impact, water and waste management, and overall sustainability reporting.
Following successful certification, we now have a comprehensive carbon inventory and management report, offering customers clear insights into our environmental performance.
Our Continued Commitment to Sustainability
We have set clear carbon reduction targets and continue to develop new initiatives to further reduce our environmental impact. Our fully sustainable electricity supply, via the Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin (REGO) scheme, ensures that 100% of our electricity comes from renewable sources.
A Sustainable Approach to Asset Management
Glenfield Invicta actively promotes sustainable asset management by encouraging refurbishment over replacement. Extending the life of valves and penstocks through refurbishment can reduce carbon emissions by over 50% compared to new product replacements. This not only benefits the environment but also provides cost savings and operational efficiencies for our customers.
Visit our website to read our Munnoch Reservoir case study, where our refurbishment work saved over 4.5 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
Together, we can work towards a greener, more sustainable future.
