Howco Group Makes Significant Investment at Bredbury Site

The world class metals distributor, processor and manufacturer Howco has made another significant investment at its Bredbury (Greater Manchester) site with the addition of two state-of-the-art Horizontal and Vertical CNC Turning Centres.

The first new machine is a cutting-edge GT5i G4 1200 x 6000 heavy duty horizontal lathe. This highly specialist piece of CNC machinery was delivered to Howco’s Bredbury facility in February.

This machine tool allows for increased capacity and efficiency, which will be a major advantage for machining large and heavy components. It also means complex geometric profiles can be produced in a highly efficient and accurate manner.

The supplier DTS UK Machine Tools says the GT5i G4, “Offers exceptional end products with a flawless finish.” 

In addition to the heavy-duty horizontal lathe, Howco has made a further investment in a YOU-JI VTL1800ATC+C-I vertical borer, supplied by TDT Machine Tools of Coventry. Similar to the horizontal lathe, the You Ji CNC vertical borer offers high precision and a high degree of versatility. Incorporating a 16 tool magazine, the live tooling application facilitates both turning and milling, meaning a reduction in setups on multiple machine tools.

These additional machines at the Bredbury site come just months after Howco invested in two other You-Ji Vertical CNC Turning Centres for its facility in Irvine, Scotland. The benefits realised in performance, highlighted the need to raise the same level of capability at our Bredbury facility.
