Leading British drop forging manufacturer W H Tildesley has successfully installed its latest large power hammer.

The 6.3 ton Banning hammer was fully commissioned in April and is now busy producing drop forgings for supply to the valve industry in the UK and worldwide.

Following the recent closure of the Henry Williams forging facility in Darlington, W H Tildesley acquired all of their forging plant.  The 6.3 Banning is the first of several planned new hammer installations.

This expansion in our closed-die capacity will enable us to manufacture larger forgings weighing up to 100kg and improve lead times for both our existing and new customers. This positive development highlights our commitment to growth and excellence within the British forging industry.

We produce forged components for a wide range of valve and actuator applications throughout the petrochemical and subsea sectors, utilising a comprehensive selection of both ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Carbon and alloy steels, stainless, duplex and super duplex alloys, nickel alloys, copper alloys and bronzes.

Our drop forging process is complemented by a range of additional services, including component design, forging feasibility studies, and design optimisation through CAD modelling and simulation. Additionally, we have an in-house tool room for the quick turnaround of dies and an in-house machine shop for proof or finished machined components.

We strive to meet and exceed our customers' expectations, taking pride in supplying components that comply with all necessary specifications and approvals. W.H.Tildesley Ltd maintains a niche position in markets where small to medium quantities of unique parts are required, often with short lead times.

W.H.Tildesley Ltd was established in 1874 and has grown into a leading producer of drop-forged components, supporting a diverse range of critical sectors around the world.
