Hot Spot New API Task Group to Revise API 6DSS

What is it?
API have advised the BVAA that they are forming a new task group to work on a major revision of API 6DSS Specification for Subsea Pipeline Valves. They are currently looking for volunteers who are willing to participate in this work, all meetings will be held with a Teams online attendance option although they do encourage in-person participation.
If you have specific knowledge and involvement in the supply of subsea valves or actuators with ASME ratings and you are interested in participating in this revision of API 6DSS, please contact the BVAA secretariat and we will advise API that you would like to join the task group. API meetings generally tend to be held in the USA and so meeting times are typically later in the afternoon UK time. The first meeting is planned for 22-24th September 2025 in Houston with a Teams option.
Why is it Important?
The scope of API 6DSS covers subsea valves with ASME ratings (API 6A covers API ratings) and the task group will also discuss the actuator content in the existing document. Consideration will be given to moving some current actuation requirements to API 6DSSX, if this is agreed API will also open a revision of API 6DSSX and work on the two documents in parallel.
API includes many organisations from major oil and gas operators, through to equipment OEMs and component suppliers. With such a diverse range of interests it is important that BVAA valve and actuator manufacturing members who supply into the subsea market are represented in any 6DSS task group to ensure that any proposed revisions take account of their needs.
