What is it?

BS 7350 Double regulating globe valves and flow measurement devices – Specification for heating and chilled water systems has been fully revised and is now available for purchase through BSI.

The scope of the standard has been slightly reduced from the previous edition to reflect changes in the industry in the past 35 years. It now covers double regulating globe valves and flow measurement devices for low temperature and medium temperature hot water and chilled water systems. The standard covers flanged DN10-DN300, screwed (3/8”-2”) and compression ended (15-28mm) valves with pressure designations PN 10-PN 40 including shell materials of copper alloy and cast iron.

Why is it Important?

The new standard has been extensively revised to reference basic European standards for design, materials, pressure temperature ratings, testing and marking. Pressure temperature ratings and design requirements specifically for steel pressure envelope materials for double regulating and variable orifice valves have also been deleted from the standard.

The 2025 edition of BS 7350 no longer covers high temperature hot water systems or Type 2 flow measurement devices in line with recent trends in the market for new installations. A new definition has also been provided for a fixed orifice fitting.

The standard has been revised by BSI committee PSE/18/2 and the 2025 edition remains a British Standard as there is no international equivalent for this important group of products with no current plans to develop one.

Supersedes

This standard supersedes BS 7350:1990 which is withdrawn.
