Hot Spot prEN 12266-1 Testing of Metallic Valves- Mandatory Requirements CEN Enquiry Ballot

What is it?
CEN/TC69 has published the attached revision of PrEN 12266-1 for CEN enquiry ballot. The scope of the standard covers specific testing requirements and acceptance criteria for production testing of metallic valves. This standard is intended to become a harmonised standard providing a means of compliant production testing to meet the requirements of the Pressure Equipment Directive.
If you have any comments on the attached draft standard please contact the BVAA secretariat by 24/10/25 in order that your comments can be considered and submitted by BVAA to BSI.
Why is it Important?
EN 12266-1 is probably the most widely used production testing standard in Europe used by valve manufacturers to ensure that their products meet the requirements of the PED/PE(S)R and often referred to in their technical documentation and quality manuals.
This standard is not generally applicable to industrial valves in thermoplastic materials, safety valves and bursting discs or components of pressure equipment such as sight glasses.
This draft standard is a revision of EN 12266-1:2012 and includes editorial changes to clarify requirements and update normative references, including revisions to Annex ZA that relate to the relationship between this standard and the essential requirements of 2014/68/EU PED.
Supersedes
EN 12266-1:2012 Testing of Metallic Valves- Mandatory Requirements.
