High-performance FKM materials for chemical applications
Fluoroelastomers (FKM) offer outstanding chemical and thermal resistance compared to other standard rubbers. They are able to handle acids, lyes, hot water, steam, and various solvents.
Freudenberg Sealing Technologies provides FKM materials capable of withstanding extreme temperatures from -40°C to +230°C (in air), while also resisting chemicals, weathering, aging, oxygen, and ozone. For enhanced resistance to hot steam or lyes, the Fluoroprene® XP material family offers a specialized solution. In the chemical industry, challenges such as rapid gas decompression and aggressive media demand high-performance elastomer seals.

Premium PTFE materials for sealing chemical applications
PTFE is a unique high-performance plastic widely used in chemical applications. Compared to rubber materials, PTFE has a superior media resistance, excellent sliding properties, and low friction coefficient (no stick-slip effect). It also offers outstanding ozone and weathering resistance, very good extrusion strength, and a broad temperature range, while being flame-resistant. Unlike elastomers, PTFE lacks rubbery-elastic properties, but its properties can be enhanced through tailored molecular structures and additives as well as in combination with rubber energizers.
Freudenberg Sealing Technologies provides various PTFE solutions for piston seals, rod seals, radial shaft seals, chevron seals, and u-cups. Some serve as all-rounders, while others excel in extrusion resistance or perform reliably even without lubrication.
New fluorosurfactant-free FKM materials
High-performance FKM materials are essential for demanding applications across various industries, often without viable PFAS-free alternatives. FKM grades produced through cleaner production processes are now becoming available at Freudenberg Sealing Technologies.
