On 2nd August 1965, a young Kevin Duckett walked onto the shopfloor at ROSS Pneumatrol for the very first time. A bottle of milk cost just 9½ D, Jim Clark had just won his second F1 World Championship, and the Beatles topped the charts with “Help!” — a title that, in hindsight, feels oddly fitting. Because from that day forward, whenever anyone at ROSS Pneumatrol needed help, Kevin was the man to call.

Fast forward 60 years, and Kevin is still the man to call. Not only has he remained with the company all this time — he’s still working full-time. That’s 60 years and counting of showing up, rolling up his sleeves, and getting the job done with the same dedication and good humour he brought on day one.

Kevin began his career in the heavy assembly area, and he’s been the cornerstone of that department ever since. With unmatched expertise, a problem-solving instinct that borders on magical, and a calm, can-do attitude, Kevin has become a legend — a master of his craft and a mentor to generations.

To mark this extraordinary milestone, the team at ROSS Pneumatrol threw a celebration worthy of the occasion. And it wasn’t just current staff who turned up to honour Kevin — several former colleagues returned to join the festivities:

  • Tony Watson, former Production Manager
  • John Watson, former Managing Director
  • Bev Gardner and Margaret Thompson, both fellow shopfloor stalwarts

All shared fond memories of Kevin’s uncanny ability to fix just about anything — often with little more than a spanner and a smile.

The celebration was filled with laughter, stories, and heartfelt tributes. There was even talk of a Beatles tribute — though Kevin wisely declined to sing “Help!”, joking that after 60 years, he’s more likely to be the one giving help than asking for it.

Kevin’s legacy isn’t just in the machines he’s built, but in the people he’s inspired. And the best part? He’s not done yet.
