Reliable Solutions for Pressure Reduction and Pressure Relief from STL

STL Power & Process Controls is the Sart Von Rohr UK sales partner, a renowned French manufacturer of industrial fluid control equipment.
Their range of pressure regulators are designed for applications where upstream or downstream pressures need to be maintained. They are self-acting regulators with an internal or external sensing impulse and can operate on most industrial fluids, over a wide range of pressures from a few millibars to several tens of bars.
Applications include: excess pressure, pressure reducing, differential pressure, inerting.
For liquids, steam & gases.
Features of the Sart pressure regulators include:
- Simple design and robust construction
- No need for auxiliary energy
- Easy adjustment of set-point
- Fit & forget design requiring minimal maintenance
Operating Principle – Excess Pressure Valve (Fig. 1)
An excess pressure valve controls pressure upstream in a process. The valve is normally in a closed position, and it slowly opens against a set-point when the pressure upstream increases. An internal impulse detects the upstream pressure causing the actuator to pressurise and retract the stem and therefore open the valve, which reduces the upstream pressure. The set-point is adjusted via the handwheel. The adjustment range is dependent on the pressure upstream to control and the relevant spring range.
Operating Principle – Pressure Reducing Valve (Fig. 2)
A pressure reducing valve controls pressure downstream in a process. The valve with perforated cone is normally in an open position and it slowly closes against a set-point when the pressure downstream increases. The actuator detects the downstream pressure via an external impulse line causing the actuator to de-pressurise and extend the stem and therefore close the valve, which reduces the downstream pressure. The set-point can be adjusted using a handwheel which compresses the spring more or less depending on the set-point required. The adjustment range is dependent on the pressure downstream to control and the relevant spring range.
Installation of Sart Pressure Regulators
It is important to install the excess pressure and pressure reducing valve on horizontal piping with the actuator downwards to protect the diaphragm from high temperatures. However, depending on the temperature and diaphragm material, it may be possible to install the actuator vertically upwards, however, please consult with STL to confirm this.
