Fast-Track Actuated Valve Solutions Keep Water Flowing

The Challenge

A leading UK water authority recently invested £2.5 million to boost the flow capacity of a key wastewater treatment plant. The aim: reduce overflows and environmental incidents during extreme weather events.

The project required multiple actuated isolation and modulation valves, all to be delivered within a strict four-week window and ready for immediate installation. When their usual supplier could not meet the timeline, the appointed framework contractor turned to T-T Flow® for a responsive and dependable solution.

The Solution

T-T Flow® teamed up with the framework contractor to supply a DN80 Aquavault® resilient seat gate valve and two eccentric plug valves (DN80 and DN150). Thanks to T-T’s comprehensive stock at their Cheshire headquarters, engineers were able to source the right valves immediately.

To ensure trouble-free installation on site, the valves needed actuators fitted and fully tested before dispatch, a challenge given standard industry lead times of eight to ten weeks. Thanks to T-T Flow’s established working relationship and ongoing collaboration with AUMA Actuators, the required actuator packages were prioritised and delivered within an accelerated timeframe.

The project incorporated one SA multi-turn actuator for the gate valve and two SQ quarter-turn actuators for the plug valves, each supplied complete with AC actuator controls. These intelligent controls provide self-adapting functionality and time-stamped data logging, enabling detailed valve performance monitoring once in service.

Once delivered to T-T Flow’s HQ, their engineers programmed the actuators, pre-set torque values, fitted them to the valves, and carried out rigorous function testing. This pre-installation preparation ensured the valves were ready to go immediately upon arrival at the treatment works, avoiding costly delays.
