What is it?
IOGP JIP 33 have published a revised edition of S-708 Subsea pipeline valves. This overlay specification is based on API 6DSS 3rd edition including the 2019 Addendum. The revised specification includes several new additions to equipment, materials, testing and qualification requirements compared to the previous version.
The specification is available free of charge and can be downloaded from the specification library of the IOGP JIP 33 website.
Why is it Important?
The International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (IOGP) is the voice of the global upstream industry with 83 members including the 12 major global operators. JIP33 is an IOGP joint industry project aimed at industry wide standardisation and cost reduction of the equipment supply chain.
This revised specification will be adopted as standard by IOGP members, affecting the future supply of subsea pipeline valves to API 6DSS. Many changes have been made which will affect manufacturers of subsea pipeline products, members are advised to review these against their current product qualifications and material specification requirements in order to ensure continuing product compliance.
