Hot Spot BS 7775:2005 Penstocks for use in water and other liquid flow applications systematic review

What is it?

BSI has announced the systematic review of BS 7775:2005 Penstocks for use in water and other liquid flow applications- specifications. This standard specifies the design and performance criteria for use in wastewater, water supply and other liquid flow applications and also sets out the requirements for packaging and installation of penstocks.

If members were interested in the specification of penstocks and wanted to support the revision of this standard, they were asked to contact the BVAA by the end of March 2026.

Why is it Important?

This standard does not have a European or ISO equivalent and so is likely to continue as a current standard for penstock valves. Previously members of the responsible BSI committee PSE 18/2 have expressed interest in revising this standard and so it may receive a positive vote for revision following the review period. Specific areas of concern to update are material standard references and welding specifications.
