Features of the RTK Refrigeration Control Valves

STL Power & Process Controls Ltd is the official UK Channel Partner for Circor-RTK.
RTK control valves are widely used in refrigeration and cooling applications.
Available in either 2-way or 3-way design with either an electric or pneumatic actuator. DN15…400 | PN16…160
Typical applications include:-
· HVAC
· Food Processing
· Pharmaceutical Cooling
· Refrigeration Systems
· Food Storage
· Process Cooling & Manufacturing
REFRIGERANT DEFINITION - A refrigerant is a substance used in a heat cycle that undergoes a phase change between gas and liquid to allow the cooling.
Common types of refrigerants include:-
· Ammonia
· Carbon Dioxide
· Hydrocarbons
The refrigeration cycle is a closed-loop system that typical consists of four cycles – compression, condensation, expansion and evaporation. It operates by changing the refrigerant’s state between liquid and gas to absorb, transport, and release heat.
STL’s RTK control valves serve two functions in the refrigerant cycle – the larger expansion valve is used to control the refrigeration capacity whilst the small suction line valve is used to control of evaporating pressure & temperature of the refrigerant vapour.

COOLANT DEFINITION - A coolant is a medium, usually fluid, used to draw heat from an object.
Common types of coolants include:-
· Alcohol-Water mixture
· Salt-Water solutions
· Silicon Oils
A typical cooling system combines two incoming flows— a cooler one from a chiller and a warmer return into a single outgoing flow to maintain a precise, set temperature in a cooling coil.
The RTK 3-way mixing valve functions as a key component for regulating the cooling capacity to prevent excessive chilling and ensures consistent, energy-efficient performance.
