New Sliding Head CNC Strengthens Precision Thermoplastic Manufacturing

Pfaudler UK, part of the global GMM Pfaudler Group, has expanded its manufacturing capability with the installation of a new 9-axis Citizen Sliding Head CNC machine, increasing capacity for the production of small, precision-machined thermoplastic components.

Designed for components up to approximately 40 mm diameter, the new machine is ideally suited to both straightforward and complex geometries. Multiple machining operations can be completed within a single cycle, improving manufacturing efficiency while maintaining the tight tolerances required for demanding industrial applications.

The investment enhances Pfaudler UK's ability to support medium and high-volume production, where shorter cycle times contribute to competitive pricing and reliable delivery schedules. Customers benefit from repeatable quality and increased manufacturing efficiency for precision polymer components.

Unlike many sliding head machining operations, the new Citizen CNC is dedicated exclusively to engineering thermoplastics. No metals will be processed on the machine, allowing machining parameters and production processes to be optimised specifically for high-performance polymer materials.

The machine will manufacture components from a wide range of engineering plastics, including PTFE, PEEK, POM, PA66, PVDF and UHMWPE, supporting applications across the valve, sealing and wider process industries.

The investment complements Pfaudler UK's existing machining capabilities and broadens the company's capacity to manufacture precision valve seats, sealing elements, bushes, bearings and other customer-specific components. It also strengthens the company's ability to respond quickly to production requirements without compromising machining accuracy or component quality.
