Roger André L’Herminier of ESME passed away peacefully at his home in Hampshire on the 4th of February, surrounded by his family.

Born in 1936, he joined his father at Electrical Steam and Mining Equipment Limited in 1966 before establishing ESME Valves Limited. Over the following decades, he led the successful development of the company’s R range of self-acting regulators and pilot‑operated control valves.

As a dedicated member of the business, Roger was committed to delivering trusted UK‑manufactured products and maintaining a strong customer‑first approach. A traditional engineer at heart, he was known for relying on his slide rule and mental calculations long after others had turned to laptops, and he generously shared his knowledge and experience with colleagues.

Roger finally retired at 80 but was always available and ESME Valves continues to remain a family business upholding his values.

He will be deeply missed and remembered with gratitude for his leadership, integrity, and lasting contributions to the company and all who worked alongside him.
