Howco - a leading distributor and processor of high-performance alloys and manufacturer of precision machined components - has further strengthened its capabilities with a significant financial investment in a state-of-the-art MAZAK multi-tasking machine to its Irvine site in Drybridge Park, Scotland.

The new INTEGREX e-H670 4m horizontal mill turn, sourced through Stirling-based ScotMaz Machine Tools in collaboration with Mazak UK, represents the latest in advanced machining technology. It is the fourth machine of its kind at Howco’s pioneering Irvine facility, underlining the organisation's ongoing commitment to technological advancement and operational efficiency across its global sites.

The INTEGREX e-H series is designed to carry out complete processing in a single setup – known as ‘Done in One’ – combining both turning and milling operations. This integrated functionality significantly reduces the number of setups required, improving accuracy while simultaneously cutting production lead times noticeably. These unique benefits are particularly valuable when handling large, complex components that require precision engineering and robust machining capability.

Andy Clarke, Howco’s UK Operations Manager commented, “This investment supports our continuous focus on innovation, quality, and global customer satisfaction. The new machine not only enhances our local capability in Irvine but also plays a vital role in meeting growing demand across the energy and industrial sectors. It allows us to deliver with greater efficiency while maintaining the highest standards.”

The addition of this INTEGREX e-H670 machine expands Howco’s overall operational range at the site, boosting both capacity and flexibility. As the machine is capable of handling heavy-duty components, it empowers the experienced Irvine team to take on even more challenging and large-scale projects with confidence.

Along with increased throughput, the machine also brings notable gains in process reliability and consistency. By reducing handling and the number of setups, the risk of error is reduced; an important factor when producing mission-critical parts.

Michael Smith, Director of Manufacturing for Europe added, “It’s an exciting step forward for the Irvine site. We’ve seen excellent results from our existing e-H670 machines, and the arrival of another will help us scale up production and maintain a competitive edge as we grow. Our valued partnership with ScotMaz and Mazak UK has made this investment possible, and we’re pleased to be pushing ahead with plans to futureproof operations.”
