Hydrogen Technology World Expo 2026

Hydrogen is moving from strategy documents into specifications, infrastructure plans and procurement. For valve, actuator and flow-control businesses, that makes Hydrogen Technology World Expo, taking place at Hamburg Messe from 20 - 22 October 2026, an increasingly important place to understand the market and meet the organisations delivering it.

The timing is particularly significant for BVAA members. Published on 31 August, BS EN 18191:2026 introduces additional requirements for metallic valves used in hydrogen applications. It addresses material selection, design, manufacture and final assessment, alongside challenges including low temperatures, hydrogen embrittlement, high-temperature hydrogen attack and cyclic fatigue. The event will feature a dedicated conference panel examining how the standard will affect valve design, sealing performance, testing, certification and quality assurance.

The wider European market is also becoming more tangible. The EU’s methodology for low-carbon hydrogen requires at least 70% greenhouse-gas savings compared with unabated fossil fuels, providing greater clarity for project developers and equipment suppliers. In Germany, the latest draft Gas and Hydrogen Network Development Plan proposes a hydrogen network of 9,241 kilometres by 2037, supported by network measures valued at €24.3 billion. Every production facility, converted pipeline, storage site and end-use connection will depend on safe, durable and precisely controlled flow systems.

Hydrogen Technology World Expo brings this opportunity together under one roof. The dedicated Valves & Fittings exhibitor category includes companies from Ätztechnik Herz to Zwick Armaturen, with suppliers such as BEL Valves, Boehmer, FITOK, GEMÜ, HEROSE, OMAL, Schwer Fittings, SeitzValve, Swagelok and WALTHER-PRÄZISION among those exhibiting. For the BVAA network, this creates a valuable opportunity to compare technologies, discuss material compatibility and leakage performance, meet prospective customers and partners, and understand the requirements likely to shape future tenders.

The 2026 event will welcome more than 1,000 exhibitors, 20,000 attendees and 200 speakers across the co-located Hydrogen and Carbon Capture Technology World Expos. Alongside the exhibition, attendees can access nine conference themes spanning production, infrastructure, safety, networks, mobility, trade, carbon capture, transport, storage, power and utilisation. A new open-theatre forum, live podcast stage and multiple fringe events will create further opportunities to hear practical case studies and join technical discussions.

The exhibition is free to attend. Conference delegates who register by 11 September can secure the Early Bird rate of €1,835 a saving of €150 on the standard ticket and place themselves at the centre of the conversations shaping hydrogen’s next phase.
